Hayley Kniveton is Pevonia’s Account Development Manager; having been with the company for 16 years, there is nothing she doesn’t know about the luxurious, natural skincare brand Pevonia is renowned for, worldwide…
Tell us a bit about yourself Hayley?
I was born in the midlands but grew up in Wales which is where I spent most of my childhood and school years. I always knew that I wanted to be a beauty therapist, so after leaving school I trained in Manchester for 2 years in beauty therapy at The Lillian Maund School of Beauty. This gave me the opportunity to travel and teach abroad, then after completing my training with distinction, I decided to return to Wales to set up my own business and very successful salon, which I ran for 8 years. Due to family commitments I then moved back to the midlands and even though I loved every minute of running my own salon I really wanted to take a different path and help others to develop their business, so I decided to move into sales and training in 1999. After my first sales role with a clinical skincare brand, I then joined Pevonia in 2000 just as it was starting to be introduced into the UK market, and I have never looked back. It was the best decision I ever made and I could not ever dream of working with another product brand - 16 years on and I am still here!
What’s your area of expertise?
I have a real passion for training, and even though my role involves sales, training and development, I am a firm believer that the more you can educate and inspire a person the more you will achieve. Attention to detail is my thing which can drive some people insane, but I love to learn and the more detail the better. You can never give me enough information, I will always want more.
Do you have a personal beauty tip to share?
Always wear your SPF30 on a daily basis. People invest time and money in their skin; however they don’t learn to protect it enough. Prevention is always better than cure and if we start at an early age protecting our skin, it will remain youthful and healthy for years to come.
What is your favourite Pevonia product?
My all-time favourite is the C complex concentrate. This is like liquid gold in a bottle and my miracle product. The vitamin C is encapsulated in oxyzomes to ensure a quick and effective, but non irritating delivery into the skin. Used at night, it repairs beautifully and stimulates collagen, so I always feel like I wake up with a newly revived skin. My other new favourite since is arrived in 2015 is the YouthRenew® Tinted Cream SPF30. I would not be without this on a daily basis now as it gives complete protection but with a flawless finish. Perfect!
Do you have a real beauty no-no or bug bear?
Protect, protect, protect! Sunscreen is not just for holidays it should be part of your daily routine.
What goes on in your average day at Pevonia?
My role is so varied but it always involves travelling which I really enjoy, apart from turbulent flights! One day I might be in Wales or up in the north of England and I also visit Ireland and the Channel Islands, so I can be here, there and everywhere. Every day I get to be with my clients and their teams, and I am so lucky to have such a good relationship with them, many of which have become great friends over the years. My main role is account development so I assist my clients with the development of their businesses, along with my sales support team which are also a great asset and support to the accounts.
Desert Island Disc?
I have a huge range when it comes to music, and being on the road a lot I do listen to music all the time and for me it is a real therapy! In my car right now I have everything from Michael Buble to Barbara Streisand, 80s collections, Enrique Igelsias, Adele, and when I need to really relax, I love classical music, oh and not forgetting il divo.
I am a huge fish fan so it would have to be Seabass, which is one of my favourites.
What is your favourite spot in the UK?
I love spending time visiting historical places in the UK as we have so much history to admire, one of my favourite places is Chatsworth House in Derbyshire and I love spending a weekend away in the Cotswolds.
Describe your perfect day?
Any day is perfect for me if I spend it with my close friends and family. To me it is not where I go but who I am with that is important. When I am home I love nothing more than spending time in my garden, I have a real passion for plants and I there is no better place for me to switch off and enjoy time out.
