CAPSICUM FRUTESCENS (RED CHILLI PEPPER) FRUIT EXTRACT
DEFINITION
Extract from pods or berries of chili peppers from the annual or perennial plants having white flowers with a greenish white or greenish yellow corolla. This vitamin C rich extract is used medicinally as local stimulant, anesthetic, antiseptic and anti-rheumatic. It is used externally as a rubefacient to stimulate circulation and cosmetically as a topical vasodilator for its ability to dilate blood vessels and increase the flow of nutrients. A.k.a. Cayenne pepper, Piri piri, African Bird’s Eye or African devil, Kambuzi, Malawian, Malagueta or Tabasco pepper. The capscidins in the seeds are also thought to have antibiotic properties.

Pods from Capsicum frutescens plants from tropical and subtropical regions including Northern, Central and Western South America.
