What is it?
Originally cultivated in ancient Egypt, some of the largest producers of sorghum in the modern era are still in Africa. The crop has now spread to southern Asia and the Americas. Sorghum is a genus of grasses and in its traditional form, it can grow to over 2 metres tall.
How can Sorghum help my skin?
Rich in vitamins B2 and C, sorghum helps to promote and maintain healthy skin. It can increase the secretion of mucus, which has been proven to help rosacea sufferers and sufferers of other skin conditions such as dermatitis and eczema. Along with other B vitamins, vitamin B2 will aid the nervous system, helping to treat anxiety, numbness and tingling. Vitamin C protects our skin from free radicals which we develop due to excess exposure to the sun, environmental pollution and regular smoking. The antioxidants in vitamin C protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation and the effect of sunlight exposure.
Sorghum is packed with amino acids called L-lysine ad L-proline. These are important ingredients which help to create collagen in the body, a substance which gives structure to the skin’s tissue. Antioxidants found in Sorghum will neutralise free radicals in the body, helping to reverse the signs of ageing on the skin and maintaining proper health of the skin by rejuvenating skin cells.
Scar tissue has a different cell structure than that of healthy skin, making it rigid. Alium, an antioxidant found in sorghum, will boost the blood flow to scar tissue, blending in the development of new skin and minimising the scars appearance.
Lipoic is an antioxidant found in sorghum. It produces valuable anti-inflammatory results by increasing cell metabolism and blood circulation in the body, which reduces acne and fine lines on the skin.
