HRH THE PRINCE OF WALES OPENS LUXURY DAY SPA AT POUNDBURY, DORSET
On 4 November, HRH The Prince of Wales officially opened Monart Spa – Poundbury, where the spa was described by Ben Murphy, Estate Director of The Duchy of Cornwall, as ‘the jewel in the crown’ of Queen Mother Square, the central hub and heart of the Poundbury community, Dorset.
The multi-million-pound luxury spa is the first UK venture for Monart Destination Spa, Ireland. Both are owned by the family run Griffin Group, headed up by brothers Michael and Liam Anthony Griffin.
Monart Spa – Poundbury is open to all, with no membership required. Half day, full day and evening experiences are available, including a comprehensive range of treatments from global, spa skincare brand, Pevonia.
Monart Spa – Poundbury has been designed with the same ethos as Monart Spa Ireland creating an environment where guests can truly rest, relax and rejuvenate. The thermal suite includes a hydrotherapy pool and state-of-the-art thermal spaces including sanarium, caldarium, sauna, salt grotto, infrared pro cabin, aroma steam room and unique experience showers.
Joint owner Liam Anthony Griffin said “This is a new concept – a luxury day spa where we see Dorset residents as our guests. We have focused on creating an environment of pure relaxation where wellbeing is the centre of everything we do. We have researched the very best of traditional techniques combined with state-of-the-art technologies to give our guests a health and wellbeing enhancing spa experience. Our purpose is to ensure every guest leaves us feeling nurtured, de-stressed and rejuvenated.”
Pevonia has supplied the luxurious Monart Destination Spa, Ireland since it opened in 2005 and is delighted to partner with Monart Spa – Poundbury with its range of facial and body treatments, along with the supply of Pevonia’s ‘at-home’ retail line.
In addition, Pevonia UK has supplied equipment for seven treatment rooms, including Ionto wellness beds, herb tower steamers, hot towel cabis, therapist stools, mag lamps along with a skin analyser. The Pevonia ‘Spa at Home’ shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body moisturiser is to be found for use within the well-appointed changing areas.
Full training was given to the new Monart Spa – Poundbury team, ahead of this week’s official launch. As with other Pevonia spas and salons, they will continue to receive ongoing assistance and training from Pevonia specialists, including instruction in specifically designed massage techniques, which are an essential part of the wellness treatments.
Hayley Robinson, National Field Sales Manager for Pevonia UK, said “We are delighted to be partnered with Monart Spa – Poundbury. We have been working very closely together during the months leading up to the launch and have even designed a signature face and body treatment for the luxury spa. Everyone at Pevonia wishes Monart great success following this week’s opening.”
Developed by Pevonia and exclusive to Monart Spa – Poundbury is the ‘Monart Total Escape Signature’. Using products rich in copper and natural marine magnesium, along with facial and body massage techniques, the 85-minute treatment provides therapeutic relaxation. Skin is left mineralised, nourished, toned, radiant and smooth.
Pevonia was launched in 1991 and is now one of the leading, global, spa and skincare brands. Pevonia UK was set up in 1999 and offers more than 50 in-spa treatments and over 80 at-home products.
Due to the high percentage of active ingredients found within their natural skincare solutions, Pevonia is not available on the High Street, but is recommended and sold by specialists within spas and salons.
