Parabens are widely known preservatives to extend a product’s shelf life. Known Parabens include methylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben among others. Pevonia has committed to be free of all Paraben preservatives to ensure your peace of mind. Even when Parabens have not yet been proven to be the cause of many attributable diseases, a public concern generated due to preliminary research that linked Parabens to problems of the endocrine system, possible allergic reactions, and the finding of Paraben traces in breast cancer biopsies disrupted people’s trust. Given that many individuals have been concerned with possible safety issues and the likelihood of toxicity, Pevonia was the first cosmetic company to make a swift decision to eliminate all Parabens from all formulations. This was a radical solution to reassure every Pevonia user about our commitment for safety.
No Artificial Colors
Artificial colors are synthetic dyes that make products more appealing to consumers. These artificial ingredients are unnecessary and can be the cause of unwanted allergies and skin reactions in sensitive persons. Pevonia only uses natural extracts and mineral pigments as they come from nature to provide safe and true natural color to all its formulas.
Sulfates are widely used in mass-produced cleansing products such as facial cleansers and shampoos, as well as household dishwasher formulas, laundry detergents, etc. These synthetic ingredients have detergent and foaming actions and can be quite strong and irritating to skin and eyes. Sulfates can easily strip the skin’s natural surface barrier and leave it unprotected, dry, dehydrated, and prone to sensitization. Pevonia does not utilize any forms of sulfates in its products.
Formaldehyde is a strong preservative that extends a product’s shelf life. However, this ingredient can be harsh, toxic and irritating to skin and mucous membranes. It is known that the accumulation of formaldehyde through chronic skin application can be detrimental to skin, and body health. Pevonia does not use this preservative or any other ingredient that could emanate formaldehyde.
Alcohol is another common ingredient utilized in cosmetic products as a solvent, carrier and astringent, especially in products intended to control oily skin symptoms such as excess oil and breakouts on the skin’s surface. There are many types of alcohols in cosmetic products, some are harsh and stripping to the skin, and others are hydrating alcohol extracts from natural ingredients. Pevonia only uses alcoholic extracts from phyto-organic sources to yield the maximum essence from a natural ingredient for top performance.
Lanolin is used in cosmetic products as a low-cost alternative emollient and emulsifier. Lanolin has been associated with allergic skin reactions and comedogenicity. It is usually extracted as a derivative from sheep’s wool coated with a waxy substance secreted by the sheep’s sebaceous glands. Pevonia does not use lanolin to assure your safety and control any possible allergic reactions and sensitivities.
Mineral Oil Free
Mineral oil is a distillation product of petroleum and is often used in lubricants, moisturizers, and leave-on cosmetics. Due to concerns with purity and manufacturing refinement and also because this oil is not naturally compatible with our skin sebum, it has a high potential to become irritating and accumulate in skin’s pores causing comedogenicity. Pevonia avoids its use in any products.
PABA, which stands for Para-Aminobenzoic Acid, was once frequently used as an ultraviolet light absorber. PABA was introduced into sunscreen formulations in the 1970s. Due to much uncertainty about long term side effects and the growing number of allergic reactions it was causing, it has been in disuse as a sunscreen ingredient in respectable formulations. Research studies have shown that PABA can have carcinogenic potential, and it can be highly allergenic and sensitizing. Pevonia only uses natural and safe proven-effective sunscreen ingredients.
Urea is often used as a preservative in a wide range of skin care products, as well as a moisturizer and mild exfoliant. High concentrations of urea can cause skin sensitization and discomfort following application. Since there is much controversy about this ingredient, Pevonia has decided to exclude it completely from its formulations.
